Enhancing our Wellbeing
We provide a traditional natural and holistic healing approach inclusive of cultural dimensions as delivered through our local knowledge of tikanga practices and experiences, incorporating a multi-dimensional framework of reaffirming connections through Wairua (spiritual, belief), Hinengaro (psychological, emotional), Tinana (physical), and Whanau or Whanaungatanga (cultural, family, home, marae, environment and community).
Various Mirimiri practices are provided supported by locally made Rongoa products and information for ongoing health and wellbeing.
During Covid restrictions, Taumata Rongoa provides Kete Rongoa. A collection of purposeful Rongoa products that focus on reconnecting and grounding people, during times of uncertainty and isolation. Taumata Rongoa continues to create new products for seasonal use for our whanau within Hokianga.
Various workshops and certificated wananga Rongoa are also provided to add in the development of other Rongoa practitioners within whanau, marae, hapu and community.
Taumata Rongoa seeks to work collaboratively with other local Kairongoa to increase the availability of Rongoa services within Hokianga.
The development of the Ara Rongoa Whakaora – Revitalization health and wellbeing walkway provides gardens with a mix of Rongoa and organic food sources, these gardens provide a learning center as well as a place of sustainable harvesting. These gardens will provide Korari for raranga/weaving, Rongoa rakau for medicine, organic food source to be shared between the hospital and community. They will also provide a space for those who need to reset themselves in a natural and nurturing environment.
Taumata Rongoa is open for services every Wednesday at the hospital marae, Pou Kara Ariki“
